99% Proof: The Peoples Musical

I was fortunate enough to be invited along to the rehearsal of new musical 99% Proof this previous week as a taster of what's to come.

After 5 months of vocal runthroughs, blocking and choreography the cast of 99% Proof are nearing the finished product that will be performed to the public at the Queens theatre on the 17th and 18th of July.
The production, written, directed and produced by Jennifer Wilkin Shaw, tells the story of the unexpected and follows a modern rags to riches storyline.
"99% Proof is a story of love, betrayal and redemption. Through a simple act of compassion, a jobless hoodie, brings an evil boss to his knees and their salvation."

The story is one that mirrors the feelings of society, and is key to realising just what people are suffering with in this era.

At the rehearsal I attended, only about 1/3 of the cast were running through vocals yet I could here them from down the road as they are some of the most powerful voices I have encountered. They will fill up The Queens Theatre with ease, with very strong voices coming from the male and female leads.

The cast contain the most vast variety of ages, yet the mixture of young and old complement and enforce the atmosphere surrounding their singing.

After a mere hour long vocal rehearsal, I can't wait to see what is to unfold in the story of 99% Proof, and I hope many of you decide to take a night out and book tickets to see it alongside me.

(I should probably also point out that I went to the rehearsal last Wednesday, 3 days later I am still singing the songs. They are so very catchy!)
